PRINCE GEORGE– Many people gathered outside City Hall this morning for a special flag raising promoting overdose awareness. Mayor Lyn Hall also proclaimed August 31st as International Overdose Awareness Day here in Prince George.

Various groups that support the cause were there including Unduing Stigma. Although it doesn’t solve the problem completely, all agree the city authorizing Bylaw to carry Naloxone kits is a huge step in preventing overdoses in their eyes.

Another group attending was Moms Stop the Harm. Michelle Miller is one of those moms who lost a loved one in her life. The cause means a lot to her and so many others but the big ask is more support for safe supply in the city.

Although some might think the Candlelight Vigil next Wednesday might only be for those who lost someone to an overdose, Miller encourages everyone to come out to show support. The vigil will take place from 1 PM to 9 pm at The Veterans Plaza on August 31st.
