Tim Bennett running for city council

PRINCE GEORGE — A familiar face is hoping to make the jump from school trustee to city councillor.

Tim Bennett has announced his bid for Prince George City Council after close to a dozen years on the Prince George School Board.

“When I first ran for trustee in 2011, I felt the district needed change. I didn’t see myself represented around the board table, and I knew that I needed to take the opportunity to share my voice,” he says.

“Eleven years later, I am seeking a seat around the council table, for the same reason. Our community is changing, and we must see our city shift at the same rate.”

And with the cost of living continuing to increase, he says the city “can make decisions that help lessen the burden on its citizens.”

“This includes diversifying revenue, providing proper oversight to ensure spending remains in check, and making difficult budgetary decisions. These aren’t easy or popular conversations, but they are decisions that must be made to ensure a sustainable Prince George, long-term.”

Bennett is the executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC.
