PRINCE GEORGE — A Prince George School Board trustee is taking a run at a council seat.

Former broadcaster Ron Polillo has announced he’s running for Prince George City Council after “many months of reflection and many people asking me to run.”

“I believe that Prince George City Council needs new perspectives, new ideas and positive change to successfully resolve the significant issues ahead.”

He says his four years as a school trustee will benefit him greatly and says a number of issues need to be addressed including “the overwhelming social issues in the downtown core.”

In addition, he says “another big concern is the massive overruns on capital spending projects.”

“We all know about the “parkade fiasco” but there are many recent projects that have seen unacceptable delays on huge budget overruns.”

Polillo says a long-term plan is also needed to address the challenges for people with disabilities.

Polillo ois currently a community residential/home sharing manager at AiMHi.

Election day is scheduled for October 15.
