Alaska Highway open to light traffic only after fiery crash Thursday evening

UPDATE (10 a.m. Saturday): According to a bulletin from Public Services and Procurement Canada, the highway remains only open to light trucks and cars. The next update will be at 6 p.m.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Highway 97 at the Sikanni River Bridge is open to pick up trucks and passenger vehicles only after a serious crash on Thursday evening.
Although RCMP is still investigating, they believe that a commercial tanker truck carrying a large amount of flammable liquids collided into a barrier on the bridge.
Although a search of the area was not initially possible due to the hazards, it’s believed the driver of the truck died in the crash.
