Downtown pool on budget, delayed by one month

PRINCE GEORGE — The pool under construction in downtown Prince George is nearing completion, though it will be delayed by one month.

A staff report in Monday’s (Aug. 29) council meeting agenda says the build is 96 per cent complete and on budget, though the budget was amended on May 9, 2022.

The month delay is due to “unanticipated trade defaults and labour shortages” and staff don’t expect the project to be delayed further. The pool is expected to open in early October.

The Terry Fox statue will be moved from the Prince George Community Foundation Park to the pool after it is restored with a bronze cast. It will be relocated in time for the annual Terry Fox Run on September 18.
