PRINCE GEORGE – Terri McConnachie is running as a mayoral candidate in the October election. The two-time sitting Councillor says she had so much support for the idea, particularly from family, when making the decision.

“I just got this groundswell of support for all across the community, saying ‘Terri, please consider throwing your hat in the ring. Consider it.. I’ll back you, I’ll help you.’ So, with deliberation and the final push was from my greatest supporter, my cheerleader, my husband.”

She noted that anything could be achieved if the community works together, as it has on things like the university, the Northern Medical Program and the Cancer Centre. Affordable housing is one of the issues to tackle if becoming mayor.

“That’s a great concern for young people, in particular, and families and folks hoping to scale down,” says McConnachie, who also pointed to the need to do something about the social issues plaguing the city, although it is not in the purview of local government. But one area of considerable concern for her is around seniors.
