PRINCE GEORGE — A Prince George man has been keeping local Mounties busy this month.

RCMP say a coordinated, multi-unit project enabled them to arrest a violent offender twice in the first week of September.

It all started on September 2, when RCMP began an investigation into a possible breach of conditions by a known offender.

“During the course of the investigation, the offense was confirmed and the man, identified as Jason Rochard Zoet, was arrested and held in custody until he could attend court. Mr. Zoet was subsequently given a release order and returned to the community,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“With concern for public safety in mind, a multi-unit team was created, consisting of police officers from our General Investigative Section, Sex-Crimes Unit and Street Crew Unit. The investigators used a variety of strategies to monitor if Mr. Zoet was breaching his conditions.”

Cooper says that on September 6, the team located Zoet once again breaching his court ordered conditions. Police officers consequently arrested him and held him in custody until he could attend court.

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges:

  • Fail to comply with probation x3
  • Fail to comply with release order x2
  • Indecent Act

Zoet will remain in custody until his next court appearance. RCMP add these matters will remain under investigation. If you have any information, you’re asked to call police.
