Greenbelt could be the city’s newest park

PRINCE GEORGE – A 44-acre piece of land currently designated as Agriculture/Greenbelt will likely be re-zoned to a park.

The land is located north of the Nechako River, west of the Foothill Bridge and, in 2016, the Council of the day had committed to that during a re-zoning application by then-Pittman Asphalt.

The same individuals who presented to Council at that time were at the Council table again to remind Council of that commitment,

The Official Community Plan will be reviewed late next year and there was discussion about having the decision take place at that time. However, there was an appetite to expedite the process through a re-zoning.

However, Council opted not to re-zoning Ginter’s Meadow to a park, opting instead to move that conversation during the OCP review.
