To Your Health: Travel Vaccines

PRINCE GEORGE — Airlines are reporting increased numbers of people flying to far-off lands to escape and enjoy vacations. With that return to normalcy, something you need to think about is traveler’s vaccines.

“It’s honestly worth looking at with any country that you’re going to. If you visit the Center for Disease Control website or check in with any pharmacist, they can look into it for you and see what vaccines are recommended for that area,” said Brett Chiasson a pharmacist at Third Avenue Pharmacy.

Region-specific illnesses in some parts of the world are a big risk as well as safe drinking water supplies. You may have already received some of the most common vaccines in school if you are younger.

“The most common ones I would say would be Hepatitis A and B. Depending on when the person is born they would maybe have already gotten one of those through school. So then we would just give that patient a Hep A shot,” said Chiasson
