“Every one” of the recommendations in the Prolific Offender Report relevant to PG: Mayor

PRINCE GEORGE – On the heels of the release of a report, complete with 28 recommendations, crafted with the help of the BC Urban Mayors Caucus, Mayor Lyn Hall ran details of the report

“Everything that we were looking for and hoping for to come out of that, the government is taking a look at three or four or four of them,” says Mayor Lyn Hall, who noted every one of the 28 recommendations has relevance to Prince George.

The other 25 recommendations that remain on the list include:

#6: The BC Prosecution Service conduct an internal review of as to the potential use of therapeutic bail to delay sentencing, #19: Police agencies create a Retail/Business Liaison position,

#22: The BC Prosecution Service increases the number of Crown Counsel But slow and steady is the way.

“It’s difficult to implement 28 recommendations by the stroke of a pen.” A significant number of the recommendations focussed on service for those suffering from mental and additions. And he says it will be up to the new batch of mayors to ensure the report and the recommendations don’t disappear into the ether.
