Labour Council endorses candidate slate
PRINCE GEORGE – It’s not a common occurrence, but this election there is a slate of candidates endorsed by the North Central Labour Council.
“Within the labour movement, we still need to pick out a progressive municipal government,” says Matt Baker, President of the North Central Labour Council. “If you look at CUPE, the Firefighters, they’re actually picking their employers. So it would nice to have a relationship with those. And CUPE, and the K-12 teachers, the PGDTA. It’s be nice to have progressive Trustees as well.”
That slate – approved by the Canadian Labour Congress – includes Terri McConnachie for Mayor. And for Council: Garth Frizzell, Wesley Mitchell, Cori Ramsay, Susan Scott and Brian Skakun, as well as four candidates for School District 57. They are Gillian Burnett, Shar McCrory, Erica McLean and Damon Robinson. It’s a strategic decision,” says Chris Beach, Political Science Instructor.
