PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP have arrested a man in connection with an assault that took place in broad daylight on October 5.

Just before 1 p.m. on October 5, police received a report of an assault in progress outside of a business on the 600-block of Central Street at Spruceland Mall.

RCMP say the female victim suffered some scrapes to her arms and legs and pain where she was struck.

Thanks to tips from the public, police were able to arrest the 32-year-old man within a half hour at his home. He was later released with a future court date. He is not known to police.

“Without a doubt this incident would have continued if it were not for the actions of multiple people who intervened by shouting at the suspect to stop,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. “Additionally, investigators were able to locate the suspect within 30 minutes of the assault from the accurate information provided to them from witnesses at the scene. We thank all those who stayed behind to speak with police.”

The investigation is ongoing.
