UNBC women’s soccer squad slays another giant, defeating Calgary 2-1 Friday

PRINCE GEORGE — The University of Northern B.C. Timberwolves women’s soccer team is making a habit of surprising teams above them in the U SPORTS rankings.

UNBC knocked off 10th-ranked University of Calgary Dinos 2-1 in Prince George Friday night (Oct. 7).

Paige Payne scored in the 20th minute and Claire Elliott got the Timberwolves’ second goal in the 57th minute. Sofia DiGiacomo replied for Calgary in the 81st minute.

Last weekend, UNBC got a win and a tie against Trinity Western, the second-ranked team in the nation at the time.
