PRINCE GEORGE – Gas prices in northern British Columbia remained among the highest in the country for the second week in a row. Local price variations at the pumps around Prince George, differed by around 20 cents per litre by Friday afternoon, with the lowest price, 183.9 cents per litre at Cost-Co, and the highest price, 199.9 cents per litre, seen at multiple stations in town. In some cases, competing gas stations across the street from each other, only 100 meters apart, saw as high as a 10 cent discrepancy between in their gasoline prices.

For new drivers and high school students like Prince George locals Brendan Carlaw and Oliver Morrow, getting their driver’s license was a bit of a bittersweet moment, thanks to eye-watering prices like these.

“It’s over $100 every time (we fill up). You see the triple digits and it just keeps climbing and climbing, its scary. Seeing our parents pay the cheaper price, and now we’re paying a lot, lot more… it stings, it really does” – Brendan Carlaw
