Morris calls for an end to “catch-and-release”
PRINCE GEORGE — In the provincial legislature yesterday, Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris took aim at the B.C. government for their approach to criminal justice regarding holding and releasing prolific offenders.
Morris, who is the official opposition critic for public safety and solicitor general, said that arresting an offender and then releasing them before their court date, is not what B.C. should be doing.
In question period on Tuesday, MLA Mike de Jong of Abbotsford West also called for an end to this system of dealing with prolific offenders.
