Prince George giving back this Halloween weekend

PRINCE GEORGE- Today is Halloween, a day for kids and their parents to dress up as their favourite characters and eat way too much candy, But also a day for those in our community to give back to local food banks.

“It is one of those times when everybody is having fun and celebrating as a community,” said Roy Law, the community ministries director with the salvation army. “It does trickle over.”

With different events around the city this past weekend and tonight collecting non-perishable food items, the salvation army believes many positives come from this holiday season.

“I think there are multiple layers to that. There is a need, and we’ll be the beneficiaries of that success from those events.,” said Law. ” It shows our younger generation that there is a need in the world, and then there’s something we can do about it.”

It’s not just donations the salvation army is looking for as we head into the holiday season. Volunteers are crucial.

“If someone wants to volunteer, that’s great. If they want to raise funds, they can. If, you know, it’s just an unlimited potential there.” Said Law

If you would like to donate this Halloween or into the holiday season, Items such as Peanut butter, Jam, Rice, Pasta and any non-perishable food items are encouraged.
