How to protect your pets this winter

PRINCE GEORGE- As the air gets colder, it’s that time of year again to bundle up and keep warm, and we all know how to keep ourselves safe this winter, but how do we keep our four-legged friends safe this winter?

“The number one thing would be to light them up,” said Gwen Arrowsmith, the owner of 4 Paws Pure. ” Either with lights or reflective leashes, For yourself, you can wear a strip of reflective lights.”

There are a few other things to consider for those taking their dogs out in the city.

“In the winter, grime can be tough on paws, said Arrowsmith.

Just like us, our pets want to stay warm.

“A few more frequent trips out and shorter if it is really cold,” said Arrowsmith. ” I think you will appreciate that as well.”

Experts say that anything below 0 degrees could be dangerous for dogs of a smaller breed, with short hair or very young or very old. At -7, owners should be aware that dogs could develop hypothermia or frostbite if left outside for too long.
