Trailer park without water for weeks

FRASER LAKE – A trailer park with dozens of residents just outside the community of Fraser Lake has been without water for almost two months.

Those affected say it means they can’t perform everyday activities like taking a shower or using the bathroom. They also point the blame at the provincial government.

The Province took over ownership of the trailer park some time ago and according to area MLA John Rustad, the province has left close to 50 people who live at the Lakeview Homes Park high and dry.

Resident James Ens hauls drinking water into his home for his family almost daily. Occasionally, he will carry water for some of the seniors living in the park.

“We pack water pretty much every day at probably 20, 30 gallons a day just so that we can flush our toilets and we have showers out of a bag shower.”

According to Rustad, the province focuses more on following a process than the results.

“And what ends up happening is the process becomes more important than the results as long as the process is followed. The results don’t matter. And if you know it doesn’t work, well, then they have to fix the process. And this is a problem across the government.”

The lack of water also raises the issue of no fire protection in the trailer park. In the meantime, residents wait to hear back from those responsible for turning back on the water.
