Kid’s cold and cough medication still in short supply

PRINCE GEORGE — The children’s cold medicine shortage continues and with no end in sight, pharmacies across the city are preparing for the shortage to continue.

With shelves empty across Prince George and with little supply coming, pharmacies are not sure when they will get more stock in, causing concern for parents and pharmacists alike.

Health Canada has said that a foreign supply of kid’s acetaminophen will be available for sale at pharmacies in the coming weeks.

Despite the challenges of not having tylenol or advil available and in the event that this new supply diminishes quickly, Brianna Pallot from Third Avenue Pharmacy says pharmacists will still be able to help.

With demand sure to increase over the cold and flu season, pain and fever medication for children is looking like it will still be in short supply despite new supplies being brought in from abroad.

Experts and pharmacists are asking for parents to only buy what they need when available and to still visit a pharmacy if your child is sick, if no supply is available.
