PRINCE GEORGE — The search is on for suspects in a pair of assaults.

They occurred at around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of 15th Avenue and Spruce Street.

RCMP say the victims were bear sprayed by suspects wearing balaclava face masks, black pants and toques. They’re 5 ‘9’ or 5 ’10’ in height.

The first victim told police he was waiting at the cross walk when three men dressed in black approached him and demanded his backpack. When the victim did not hand over the bag, one man deployed bear spray in the victim’s face. The second victim reported to police she saw what was happening and called out, which prompted the men to come after her and spray her with bear spray, as well. The second victim also told police she was struck in the leg by one of the men.

“These are brazen attacks on innocent members of the public that we are taking very seriously,” says RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“Though it was early in the morning, these assaults occurred near a busy intersection. We are asking for any witnesses to either assault, or for anyone with a dash cam that was in the area, to please contact an investigator by calling the non-emergency line at (250)561-3300. Please quote file number 2022-41240 or 2022-41241.”
