Incident near Blackburn Elementary under RCMP investigation
PRINCE GEORGE — Mounties are investigating an incident near Blackburn Elementary School.
Police say it occurred at 230 p.m. yesterday (Nov.23) with two students reporting to police they were walking home on Blackburn Road North engaging in horseplay when a black Dodge Ram pickup truck stopped with the driver asking them if they needed a ride home.
When the students declined, RCMP say the man appeared to the students as though he was getting out of the truck. The students then ran home and the driver continued on his way.
“We are glad the students followed their instincts in this situation by running away and immediately telling a parent about what occurred. This is exactly what should happen if students are approached by anyone they don’t quickly recognize or know personally,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.
