TWolves men’s basketball squad win OT thriller 95-92 over Dinos

PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves Men’s Basketball team continues to show heart as they defeated the University of Calgary Dinos in thrilling fashion.

Winning 95-92 in overtime, the TWolves get a big win over the Dinos who sit ahead of them in the Canada West conference standings.

Now winning their second game in a row, the entertaining Friday (November 25) evening game showcased UNBC’s talent.

It was a balanced scoring night for the TWolves as Micah Jessie racked 24 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.

Guard Darren Hunter added 19 points, Fareed Shittu tallied 15 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, along with three blocks.

Chris Ross had a career night cleaning the glass grabbing 18 rebounds.

To get into overtime, UNBC big man Spencer Ledoux caught a huge offensive rebound off of a missed shot and then laid it in to tie the score at 81-81.

The two teams traded buckets to start the extra quarter but UNBC ultimately grabbed a hold of the lead and solidified the win at the charity stripe with free throws.

UNBC is now 4-3 on the season tied with the Dinos and Trinity Western for fourth place in the Canada West rankings.

Both teams will tip it off again Saturday evening in the second game of their weekend series at the Northern Sport Centre in Prince George.
