PRINCE GEORGE β€” Prince George residents are encouraged to join in on the fun of trying a new sport while promoting awareness surrounding inclusive sports.

The Northern Adaptive Sports Association is hosting a free event at the Northern Sports Centre on December 4 for people looking to try wheelchair basketball.

No experience or equipment is required to participate to showcase your wheelchair basketball skills.

From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the association wants members of the community to gain experience while playing some ball.

β€œIt is only through building experiential awareness of opportunities around inclusive sports that we can continue to offer access to sport, recreation and an active healthy lifestyle in Prince George and all of Northern BC,” the release reads.

The release also states that 20% of Canadians live with a disability and through events like this, people with a disability can continue to live an active healthy lifestyle through sports.

Teams are welcome to register as well as individuals. Prizes can be won throughout the event.
