One person dead, two injured following weekend motel fire

PRINCE GEORGE — One person is dead and another two people seriously injured following a fire at the North Star Inn on Victoria Street over the weekend.

The fire broke out at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday night with crews arriving on scene to find flame exiting the window and door of the main floor hotel unit.

“A quick and efficient response extinguished the fire and limited the damage to the affected unit. Crews remained on scene for two hours, ensuring the fire was out,” according to a City of Prince George news release.

Damages are estimated at 125,000. The cause is under investigation by RCMP.

RCMP say fire investigators and the Forensic Identification Section will be conducting their investigations in the coming days, and police will remain on scene until those investigations are complete.
