Invisible tree at trees of CNC raising awareness for invisible disabilities

PRINCE GEORGE- Trees of CNC have packed the hallways of the college with each program providing a tree in the hope to raise donations for the CNCSU Food Bank, but one tree stands out.

The Job Education (JET) Program chose to make an invisible tree to raise awareness for invisible disabilities.

Invisible disabilities are those such as anxiety, autism, depression and hearing loss, thing that impacts many students.

“I suffer from anxiety and depression, and every time I look at this tree, it’s saying that it’s okay to have an invisible disability,” said Brayden Smith, a student in the JET program.

Smith and others who worked on the project hope that everyone who sees the tree experiences the same message.

“It affects a lot more students than we think, and the impact of that, it’s not visible,” said Jason Dauvan, the program coordinator for JET. ” A lot of times, students will be struggling with different areas. We try to find little methods that will help them out.”

The Trees of CNC Will be up for display until December 16.
