PRINCE GEORGE- Early Childhood Educators studying at the College of New Caledonia have a new slate of student bursaries available to them, thanks to a new Partnership with Canfor, that saw Canadian Forest Products LTD, donate $50,000 to support early childhood education and childcare programming at CNC campuses. CNC’s VP Academic Chad Thompson was enthused to announce the partnership and the launch of the new bursaries.

In a written statement, Canfor had this to say:

“…When we understood that 92% of surveyed families from small and rural communities across BC, were having difficulty finding quality, affordable and accessible childcare with qualified Early Childhood Educators, we knew this was an area we could help with our Good Things Comes From Trees community giving program.” – Canfor Spokesperson Rosemary Silva

That help, came in the form of two years worth of scholarship funding for current and future Early Childhood Education students at CNC, an investment that ECE faculty Christine Jackson explains, is an investment in the canadian workforce as a whole, as Early Childhood Educators play a pivotal role in supporting other sectors by providing workers peace of mind that their children and charges will be well looked after while they’re busy punching the clock at work… and of course , like every other industry out there right now, trained graduates and skilled Early Childhood Educators are in extremely high demand.

The New bursaries are open to all Early Childhood Education students, both full and part time, attending any one of the College of New Caledonia campuses across BC. Anyone interested in applying for one of five $2000 bursaries currently up for grabs is invited to do so by following the links on the CNC Website, under Financial Aid. Fifteen more bursaries of $1000 each will be ready to go starting in the new year, and interested students can apply for them in the same way.
