RCMP advise against travel today due to icy roads
PRINCE GEORGE — If you don’t need to travel today, it’s best to stay put at home.
That’s the message from the Prince George RCMP who say the icy conditions has resulted in a number of fender benders around town.
“Prince George RCMP is asking everyone to limit their travel to essential travel only. If you must go out, we are urging drivers to use extra caution on roadways as they are very icy and slippery with the rain. Give yourself extra room for stopping and turning, and keep an eye out for pedestrians who may have to take extra time crossing the street,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Office for the Prince George RCMP.
The freezing rain has prompted Environment Canada to release a special weather statement. That statement notes that “travel conditions may be challenging due to patchy ice pellets and freezing rain.”
