PRINCE GEORGE- 160 of the best cross-country skiers in canada will be descending on Prince George this weekend in advance of the Nordiq Cup & World Jr Championship Trials, held at the world class cross country facilities at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club. Director of Competition Kevin Petterson reiterated the caliber, and the comradery of the competition as young skiers from around the globe step off the plane in the Northern Capitol, and strap into their skiis as representatives of their home countries National teams.
Among those competing for international teams, are Czech Republic’s own Matias Baur & Jiri Duz, who arrived alongside Team Poland & Team Australia in advance of next week’s competition to acclimatize to the new Northern enviroment. First time visitors to Canada, Mathais and Jiri have quickly taken to the vast trail network and complicated terrain, chomping at the bit to get out and experience that fresh fallen northern snow for themselves. Despite being Canadian newcomers, Team Czech Republic’s Olympic reputation is legendary in the cross country skiing world, and the energy the international team has brought to Prince George, is palpable for the other skiers.
