Simon Fraser Bridge rehabilitation project to resume this spring
PRINCE GEORGE —The Simon Fraser Bridge rehabilitation project will resume this spring and will be completed by September 2023.
The southbound lanes on the bridge have been closed since the start of construction in January 2022 to allow for complete replacement of the bridge deck and rehabilitation of the sub-deck of the southbound structure and replacement of the north abutment. The southbound lanes will remain closed for the duration of the project.
The northbound lanes of the bridge will continue to serve as a detour, with one lane each for northbound and southbound traffic.
The $20.5 million rehabilitation project was initially expected to be completed by last fall, but the timeline was extended by one year by primary contractor Ruskin Construction, who said supply chain issues prevented timely completion.
