10 years, Immaculate “Macky” Basil missing. Tl’azt’en community hosts vigil

PRINCE GEORGE – Immaculate “Macky” Basil disappeared ten years ago and will be commemorated by friends and community members tomorrow.

The public is invited to join a solemn Light of Hope Vigal to honour her memory and stand in solidarity with Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

The event will begin by paying tribute to Macky and all those impacted by violence. At 10 am, a 20-kilometre vehicle procession will start at the Leo Forest Service Road and proceed to the area where Macky disappeared a decade ago.

At this location, speakers will share their insights and thoughts on the number of missing women.

According to event organizers, these gatherings give them solace and strength to continue advocating for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
