RCMP seize drugs, weapons from Millennium Park

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP have seized a number of weapons and drugs from Millennium Park after executing a Controlled Drug and Substances Act warrant.

On Thursday, June 15, Prince George RCMP’s Downtown Safety Unit executed the warrant at the encampment in Millennium Park on the corner of First Avenue and George Street.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, as well as several types of prescription drugs, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A large assortment of weapons were also seized.

Five people were arrested during the execution of the warrant and were release pending the full results of the investigation and all those arrested are known to police.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper states that “specialized units are making concerted efforts to target those engaged in the trafficking of illicit substances, as the violence associated with drug trafficking puts our community at risk.”

The Downtown Safety Unit was assisted by frontline police officers as well as the Emergency Response Team to help maintain officer safety as well as the safety of those in the encampment.
