PRINCE GEORGE — Today, protestors from across Canada will be marching to the steps of their local government buildings to protest and demand the Manitoba government pay to search a landfill in Winnipeg to bring home the bodies of four women. Here in Prince George, dozens gathered outside of city hall to make their voices heard.

The protest in Prince George is just one of many that took place across Canada on Monday, with the steps of the Manitoba legislative building in Winnipeg filled with voices, calling for something to be done, and it was the same situation on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Outside of city hall, personal stories were shared of heartbreak regarding lost loved ones. The day of action is not only about calling for action from government, but asking for all Canadians to lend their voice.

“I want you to know that there are 6000 women that that have gone missing and murdered. I know of 11 other women that have survived, and I know that there might be others in this crowd. But I know that throughout Canada that there are many, many indigenous women that have gotten away. So that number of 6000 could be up to 15 to 20000, including us that have gotten away. ” – Sonya Rock, Organizer of PG Solidarity March
