Omineca Arts Centre’s welcomes Izzy, January’s artist in residence
PRINCE GEORGE – Izzy is the Omineca Arts Centre’s newest artist in residence, and his official gallery opening is happening tonight (January 6) at 6:30 p.m. Focusing on surrealism with fantasy and horror influences, Izzy’s work features highly detail-oriented pieces blending these elements together.
“I guess in terms of medium, I tend to lean towards very stark, black and white graphite pen sort of works, trying to get that almost technical drawing feeling to them,” he said.
Like many artists, Izzy says he wouldn’t know what to do with his life without art. However, perhaps equally as influential is his strong interest in fantasy, as he grew up reading novels like Lord of the Rings and Dune, and he says his art is a way for him to get lost in his own fantasy worlds and ideas of what could be.
