Two River’s Gallery and UNBC host open forum to discuss off-grid water management.
PRINCE GEORGE— UNBC’s Water and Sanitation Holistic Technologies (WASH-T) Research Group will be holding a public engagement event on April 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Two rivers Gallery. The event will be to discuss sustainable water and sanitation solutions in rural and remote communities in the face of climate change and environmental challenges.
“Unlike their centralized counterparts, which may struggle to address the unique needs of small and remote communities, on-site systems are inherently more adaptable and cost-effective,” says Dr. June Garcia-Becerra. “Decentralized systems empower communities by involving local residents in the planning, implementation, and maintenance processes.”
Dr. Garcia-Becerra adds that these systems promote sustainable resources use by building pride around the reuse and recycling of water.
The event titled ‘Building a Sustainable and Resilient Future in Small Communities with Decentralized and Holistic Water and Sanitation Solutions’, promises open dialogue and knowledge building, featuring local participants and experts discussing innovations in off-grid technologies.
