BC Wildfire Service battle two small blazes approximately 20 km from Burns Lake
BURNS LAKE — BC Wildfire Service personnel are battling two new fires in the Northwest Fire Centre.
The out-of-control Tibbets Creek wildfire is located 21 kilometres east of Burns Lake and is visible from Highway 16. It was discovered at 4 p.m. on August 8 and is estimated at 0.8 hectares in size.
The Wildfire Service says an initial attack crew is responding with bucketing helicopters and air tankers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The out-of-control Maxan Lake wildfire, located 19 kilometres northwest of Burns Lake, is two hectares in size and was discovered at 6 p.m. on August 8.
