PRINCE GEORGE – A local Red Seal electrician is raising the alarm after he and his girlfriend were shocked in their kitchen by an unsafe kitchen appliance. He is trying to warn people who buy kitchen appliances about their limitations.

Corban Burgess has worked around live wires for his whole career. When his girlfriend was shocked in their home, he started investigating the matter.

Upon further inspection, Burgess discovered a disturbing sight behind the toaster oven a melted power cord. This and the absence of proper wiring that would have prevented the shock highlighted the grave danger of using such appliances.

Burgess is working with electrical standard authorities to encourage manufacturers to make appliances with a three-prong plug.

” I believe they should be recalled and we should have the safety standard changed and or made sure it’s followed if it’s not already there. we’re in the process of looking into all these standards and trying to see what’s going on.”

Despite the shock, Burgess is not giving up. He stores his toaster oven safely under the cupboard while actively seeking a solution. He is committed to alerting his clients and friends about the risks of using an ungrounded appliance.
