Halifax port disruption sinks Senators’ gravy boat giveaway promotion

OTTAWA — A disruption at the Halifax port has left the Ottawa Senators’ gravy boat giveaway stranded, forcing a last-minute change in plans for fans this Thanksgiving.

The Senators were looking to distribute specialty gravy boats to the first 10,000 fans that arrived at Canadian Tire Centre for Ottawa’s game against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday

However, a labour disruption has left the gravy boats stranded at a shipping port in Halifax.

Therefore, the first 10,000 fans who arrive on Monday will instead receive a voucher redeemable for a free popcorn and soft drink.

The gravy boats will be distributed on Dec. 7 when the Senators host the Nashville Predators.

Senators senior vice president of marketing and customer engagement Jeff Harrop said the giveaway can still be tied “into a nice holiday theme.”
