BC Transit begins phasing fare passes in favour of Umo

Oct 23, 2024 | 5:00 AM

PRINCE GEORGE— On December 1, 2024, BC Transit will no longer sell Adult and Student/Senior Monthly Pass fare products in Prince George as they transition to Umo enabled alternatives.

The fares being phased out include:

Single Ride – Cash Balance

$2.50

DayPASS – Cash Balance

$5.00

Onboard DayPASS

$5.00

10 Single Ride Tickets

$22.50

30-Day Pass – Adult

$60.00

30-Day Pass – Concession

$50.00

Student Semester Pass

$135.00

BC Transit says Cash and the Province’s BC Bus Pass will continue to be accepted. BC Transit adds that all legacy fare products will be accepted until used up.

The Umo app and Umo reloadable cards will allow transit users to purchase fares. Umo fares can be obtained in-person through a BC Transit Umo retail vendor, online at ca.umopass.com, or through Umo customer service at 877-380-8181.

The U-passes offered by UNBC and CNC will now be offered through Umo. A new Umo compatible token will be available to support social wellness organizations that offer free or discounted fare products.

Umo’s cash balancing system means that you can load money onto your account and use it throughout your trip. At your second payment of the day you will automatically be switched to a DAYpass allowing unlimited local travel privileges for the rest of the day. You can also get a 30-Day Pass that can be activated any day of the month to allow unlimited local trips for the next thirty days. A 30-Day Pass activates upon first use, not when purchased.
