QUESNEL — Mounties have arrested a suspect in a logging truck theft.

Quesnel RCMP say the theft occurred just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday (Nov.13) morning. Police say a logging truck and trailer were stolen from a business on Quesnel Hixon Road.

“The thieves were also suspected to be involved in other thefts from the same area. The trailer was located later that day abandoned. The logging truck has an estimated value of about $65,000,” says Cpl. Clay Kronebusch.

He says the stolen truck was spotted on Highway 97 near Alexandria at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning (Nov.14). The RCMP located the vehicle in the McLeese Lake area.

The suspect attempted to flee from police on a stolen motorbike but was caught a short time later with the help of the Williams Lake RCMP, RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services.

“Thanks to the hard work and coordinated efforts of all those involved, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen truck and motorcycle,” says Kronebusch.

The 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday (Nov.14).
