Local athlete joins T-wolves roster

PRINCE GEORGE—Summer Toor has committed to her hometown University as she will be joining the UNBC Timberwolves Women’s Basketball program, beginning in 2025-26.

The soon-to-be graduate of College Heights Secondary is a 5’6″ shooting guard. Toor is a two-time City All-Star and a three-time City champion. Last year she averaged, 15 points-per-game and 4.5 threes-per-game during the 2024 Provincials.

“I chose UNBC because it’s in my hometown. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to play at the highest level in my hometown and I’m very excited to start playing at UNBC,” shared Toor who gained a love for basketball from her mom who also played at a high level.

Timberwolves Head Coach Sergey Shchepotkin’s says that Toor is one of the top local players her age adding, “she’s a natural, confident shooter and has a great understanding for the game.”

As Toor wraps up her final season off highschool basketball, she says she’s looking to improver her speed to compete in Canada West. However, she’s confident that she can do it with the help of her new head coach.

“Sergey is a good coach. I’ve watched a lot of the games and I like his way of coaching,” noted Toor. “He definitely noticed a good part of my game when he was watching me play in high school, so I’m looking forward to playing for him.”
