LANGLEY — The Duchess Park Condors beat the Notre Dame Jugglers 66-51 to win the Tsumura Basketball Invitational Girls Tournament in Langley Saturday (Dec. 14).

The Condors from Prince George beat the Jugglers from Vancouver in the Select 16 Bracket final at the Langley Events Centre.

The Jugglers got into Saturday’s final having allowed no more than 37 points in any of their previous games at the tournament. Trailing by 11 after one quarter, Notre Dame went on a 7-0 run, before the Condors rediscovered their rhythm and regained a double-digit lead.

“They never quit. When we struggled, we relied on our strengths, which is play some gritty defence and push the ball up the floor,” coach Reid Roberts said.

Mercedes Black led the Condors with 16 points, while Naiha Manhas was named Player of the Game after her 13-point performance. Zahra Ngabo – who was named Most Valuable Player – added 12 points, while Maggie Malfair chipped in with 10.

The Condors beat Johnston Heights from Surrey 72-51 Wednesday, Walnut Grove from Langley 88-27 Thursday, and Vernon 51-50 Friday en route to Saturday’s final.
