PRINCE GEORGE – An unfortunate but expected round of layoffs has occurred at the College of New Caledona (CNC). CKPG News learned that at least two people in administrative positions have been laid off.

In a statement, the College said:

“In response to federal government restrictions involving international students, CNC has undergone a comprehensive review of the College’s operations, services and programs across the six campuses to ensure we remain responsive to students, community and economic growth in the region.

Subsequently, we’re looking at opportunities to better align programs and academic schools and optimize our current resources. This will help us maintain a strong and sustainable campus presence and offer high-quality programs in the communities we serve.

As part of this review, CNC’s executive team is working collaboratively with senior leadership and the union executives. In this process, we are honouring our personnel policies and collective agreements. As these conversations are still ongoing, CNC is currently not in the position to comment on workforce-related changes.”

More details are expected in the coming days.
