Man injured after police pursuit and gunfire exchange east of Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia of an incident east of Prince George, where a man was injured, after an evening when Highway 16 East was closed for several hours.

On May 27, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, along with Prince George RCMP officers, were conducting proactive patrols in the area of East Perry Road in Prince George.

They attempted to stop a suspect vehicle. The driver exited and allegedly shot at police before fleeing in the vehicle. Officers followed the suspect onto a Forest Service Road in the Tabor-Ferndale area, where an interaction occurred between the suspect and police.

The suspect returned to his vehicle; however, he was eventually taken into custody without further incident. The man was provided immediate first aid before being transported to the hospital with serious injuries. No one else was injured.
