Salmon fishing on the Nechako River in Prince George

Having a salmon opening in Prince George is rare, having an opening that spans a month is even more inconceivable but it happened in 2025 after a lot of advocating and an exceptional sockeye salmon run up up the Fraser River. Anglers in Prince George were rewarded with an opening for sockeye and pink salmon starting in mid-August until September 21st and we couldn’t help but enjoy the opportunity with some experts from the Spruce City Wildlife Association.
