Wasps Liking The Warm Weather
PRINCE GEORGE- There are a lot of wasps buzzing around the city this year… that’s thanks to the hot and dry weather we’ve been experiencing this summer. Wasps also tend to reproduce more quickly at the end of the summer and early fall. To reduce the amount on your property, make sure your barbecue and patio areas are clean as they are attracted to meat and sweet foods. There are a number of products available to trap and kill the bugs, but many stores are finding it hard to keep them on the shelf. A cheap and chemical-free way to rid the pests from your yard is by making your own, using an attractant like a hot dog on a skewer with a bucket of soapy water underneath. While they are a nuisance wasps do have a purpose. They feed on caterpillars and other small bugs, which helps to control pests in the garden.
