PRINCE GEORGE – A collaborative initiative between the Prince George RCMP and School District 57 focuses on educating students on how to effectively manage their digital footprints.

Since the start of the school year, Corporal Jennifer Cooper has been visiting schools throughout the district to engage students in grades five through nine in open discussions about their online responsibilities and behaviours.

“We talk a lot about our digital footprint, how online activity can have offline consequences, and the permanency of what we post online, how that never disappears.”

During these sessions, students watch an engaging video aimed at capturing their attention regarding the dangers of sextortion, followed by an interactive question-and-answer segment.

The primary goal is to guide young people in becoming responsible and respectful digital citizens.

In each session, Corporal Cooper teaches students how to limit their personal information online, emphasizing that this is one of the most effective ways to protect themselves from potential predators.
