Year-over-year unemployment rate in Prince George rises to 6.9%

PRINCE GEORGE — The year-over-year unemployment rate in Prince George rose from 5.2 per cent in November 2024 to 6.9 per cent in November 2025.

Statistics Canada noted that 3,800 people were looking for work last month compared to 2,900 in November 2024 while there were a total of 51,400 people working in November 2025 compared to 53,000 in November 2024.

There were slight decreases in people working in accommodation and food services last month along with educational services, and finance, insurance and real estate. There were slight increases in employment in construction in the Prince George region.

Provincially, B.C.’s unemployment rate fell from 6.6 per cent in October 2025 to 6.4 per cent last month though the year-over-year unemployment rate in November increased by .6 per cent.
