PINE PASS — Good news for those travelling Pine Pass.

Rogers has expanded 5G service along Highway 97 between Pine Pass and Chetwynd , adding nearly 70 kilometres of new coverage.

Rogers says the work “closes long-standing cellular dead zones, giving drivers, residents, resource workers and tourists reliable access to emergency services, road updates and navigation – especially during winter storms, wildfires and breakdowns.”

The service was delivered in partnership with the Province of British Columbia and Northern Development.

“Closing the connectivity gap along Highway 97 is critical for people to stay connected when it matters most—accessing emergency services, calling for roadside assistance or receiving real time updates as conditions change,” said Diana Gibson, Minister of Citizens’ Services.

“The completion of this project reflects collaboration between the Province and Rogers through provincial connectivity programs—turning public investment into tangible safety and connectivity benefits for northern communities and everyone who relies on this corridor.”
