Fraser Lake RCMP have launched an investigation and are working to determine who is responsible. Police have not released any information about potential suspects, but are urging residents to come forward if they witnessed suspicious activity near Louisville Road around the time of the incident.

Telecommunications wire thefts have become a growing concern in many communities, often resulting in costly repairs and widespread service disruptions. In this case, investigators say the damage extended beyond property loss, affecting critical communications infrastructure relied upon by local residents and emergency responders.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” RCMP said in a news release.

Anyone with information related to the theft is asked to contact the Fraser Lake RCMP at 250-699-7777 and quote file number 2026-781.

People wishing to remain anonymous can contact Northern BC Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a tip through the organization’s website.

Police are encouraging anyone who may have seen unusual activity in the area on August 2 to report what they know, no matter how insignificant the information may seem, as investigators continue their efforts to identify those responsible.
