Bird proposes multi-use inland port for Prince George, touting hundreds of jobs and new economic opportunities
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Prince George-Valemount MLA Rosalyn Bird is proposing a large-scale infrastructure project that would transform Prince George into a multi-use inland port and logistics hub, combining trade, military, and emergency response operations in a single development.
Bird recently presented the concept to the City of Prince George’s Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs, describing it as a way to capitalize on Prince George’s strategic location and align with new federal funding opportunities for defence and emergency management infrastructure.
The proposal would bring together several ideas that have been discussed independently by local organizations and governments for years, including an inland port, a Canadian Forces logistics base, a national emergency and fire response training centre, and expanded cargo operations at the Prince George Airport.
